“Whatever causes night in our souls may leave stars.” – Victor Hugo
It can be hard to imagine that the darkness times and deepest wounds can yield anything of any value or beauty. Yet, this is so possible!!
I see this in so many of our stories. The things that hurt us most become that which then becomes the light we are later able to shine into the darkness carried by others.
This reminds me of the history of John Bowlby. He is the father of Attachment Theory – which is arguably the most important foundation for understanding what we need in our relationships to thrive as humans.
He was raised by a nanny, was devastated when he lost her at 4 years old, and was then sent away to boarding school for the remainder of his childhood.
In his early wounds were the sparks of such incredible insight – which have now shown brightly to guide healing for so many.
Do you resonate with this? How have you seen the darkness in your own life transform into something that brings light to others? I would love to hear!
