I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (CA License #LMFT41442) and have provided therapy since 2001. I am Board Certified by and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, as well as a Diplomate of the National Center for Crisis Management. I am a member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. I am a Board Certified Professional Counselor, have been awarded Fellow standing by the American Psychotherapy Association, and am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
My education has included graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and as a Distinguished Student in Psychology. I have further earned both a Masters of Arts in Counseling and a Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology. In order to be able to effectively address the complexity of symptoms experienced by my clients, I continually pursue further development of my clinical skills.

Early in my career, I completed the 60-hour California State Certification as a Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Advocate. I have also completed the 70-hour Certificate Program in Traumatic Stress Studies through leading trauma expert Bessel van der Kolk.
I was originally trained in EMDR Therapy in 2005. I am a Certified Therapist with the EMDR International Association and have completed extensive advanced training in EMDR and related physiologically-based intervention protocols for the treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex/Developmental Trauma, Dissociative Disorders, and other mental health conditions.
I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and have provided Consultation to mental health professionals (including Doctoral-level Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors) regarding certification in EMDR therapy, qualification as a Consultant, and the application of advanced EMDR therapy interventions for the treatment of Complex/Developmental Trauma and Dissociative Disorders. I am also an approved EMDRIA Credit Provider (#18001) for provision of continuing education to EMDR therapists.
I have substantial training in Cognitive-Behavioral treatments for trauma, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder, most significantly with David Burns’ of Stanford University. I am a Certified Level 3 Advanced TEAM-CBT Therapist through the Feeling Good Institute, applying David Burns’ cutting edge approaches to assessment and treatment.
I have been fully trained and accredited in the Amen Clinics methods for educating, assessing, and motivating clients struggling with brain-related conditions, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. As part of this association, I have access to specialized tools and resources to help clients be able to help them attain better brain health and lead happier, richer lives.
I am a Certified HeartMath Practitioner through the Institute of HeartMath. HeartMath is a tool for affect regulation training, which has been shown through extensive research to improve anxiety, depression, sleep, focus, and other aspects of mental and physical health.
I have extensively studied the integration of Christian beliefs with the work of counseling and am willing to incorporate this approach at the request of the client.
I have also completed a continuing education certificate in the treatment of Eating Disorders. I have had the incredible privilege of working with Team Mermaid, a women’s triathlon association, in the development of a body image and self esteem curriculum for the Mini-Mermaids Girls Running Club.
