“Warriors are not the ones who always win but the ones who always fight.” -Unknown
The words “victim” and “survivor” are often used to designate those who have gone through trauma.
While both are accurate, I believe one is most suitably called a WARRIOR who makes it through the wounding of body and soul and continues forward.
No matter how slowly or haltingly forward – no matter how many seeming backtracks and repeats of the same types of troubles – no matter how impossibly inaccurate the title “warrior” can feel.
It is my honor in my work as an EMDR therapist to bear witness to the courage of Lionhearts- to help heal the wounds and shore up the wounded as they fight – as they keep on fighting as warriors for their lives.
