I often observe to my clients that their experiences with early trauma seem to have given them spidey-senses.
Initially, there can be so much hypervigilant reactivity to trauma triggers, but EMDR therapy works wonders to calm this down by sorting out facts from fears.
An incredible gift comes when it becomes possible to listen to the wisdom of the intuition gained through the experiences of neglect and abuse. There is so much protective power in our gut instinct if we can learn to trust it.
