“Pain is the burden. Not you.” -CWPoet
In light of the news being laden with the recent suicides, I thought it was important to share these words right now.
I’m boarding a plane for Massachusetts today, on my way to a week long intensive training with a leading EMDR expert on methods for treating attachment trauma – which is at the core of the pain for so many with depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
There IS powerful treatment for the pain.
I am often struck (and honestly dismayed) by how many people show up in my office having tried years of talk therapy or behavioral therapy – never having addressed the difficult experiences that are at the root of their struggles.
There is so much more we can do as therapists – we can unlock the harsh grip of the memories and change the way they are held in the brain.
We can transform the source of the someone’s distorted belief that they are a burden – and lift the true burden of the pain they carry.
I would love to hear your thoughts!!
Thank you to CWpoet for these beautiful words!
