“Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression.” -Haim Ginott
So often we think little ones are just too young to remember this or that. Or, for ourselves, that things that happened when we were so young couldn’t have affected us!!
The reality couldn’t be further from the truth.
The nervous system begins to take in information – to learn – even before we are born.
It’s almost as if the littler we are the more we absorb what goes on around us – drawing rudimentary conclusions that become the foundation of what we believe to be true about ourselves – our lovability, our safety, our power to reach out or take action so that our needs can be met.
I usually begin my work with clients who have histories of developmental trauma by repairing the attachment system.
We start all the way back at the beginning!!
This is often some of the most profound and healing work I have the privilege of facilitating.
I’d love to hear your thoughts!!

The work with the little self through Attachment Repair is my favorite – part of the EMDR Readiness Course!
If you’re curious about learning more about the Course, how EMDR therapy can heal trauma by transforming how memories are stored in the brain, and essential components of readiness for trauma memory processing – then check out the link above.
