When we begin to heal from developmental trauma and process memories, we must lean into the breaking 
– lean into the free fall into a future without the parents we’ve idealized like castles in the sky – without the fantasy of someday getting the childhood we needed – without the odd but familiar comfort that we are the sole bearers of shame and responsibility as we have always been so we don’t betray or lose those we need.
But in this shattering of illusions and flooding of emotions – as we feel what is real – we find there is something bright and strong and true underneath.
We find ourselves – the core of us – that can finally emerge – to live – and to someday thrive.
