“Being an adult is like folding a fitted sheet.” -Maya Shetreat
The last couple of weeks have been challenging, so I’ve had to prioritize other things over posting.
Along with managing some other tough stuff, Sprout’s been waking up every couple hours at night – sooo uncomfortable with double ear infections, tummy aches, and lots of itchiness from some insane food allergies (that I think we have finally figured out!! ).
Being a puppy mom – being an adult – is so challenging to navigate sometimes. Figuring out what to prioritize and what just has to give is a necessary part of it sometimes!
I think the comparison to folding a fitted sheet is perfect
!!
I shared this quote with someone and they promptly responded that there IS a way to fold a fitted sheet! I laughed, thinking that actually makes the quote even more perfect.
Life is a whole lot more difficult for those of us who didn’t receive the guidance we needed early on.
Secure attachment isn’t just about nurture and protection – it’s about having someone there to show you the ropes.
I have too many sessions revolving around pain that resulted from never being taught the basics of shaving legs or periods or managing finances or a myriad of other the things we need to know how to do as we become adults.
It’s hard enough to be an adult – but it’s extra hard without another adult first showing you how!!
I’d love to hear your thoughts. If you resonate with this, how have you managed to figure out adulting despite it all?!!
